Characteristics of Bulb Buttercup Picotee Orange Kiepenkerl:

Ranunculus/buttercup flowers look almost too perfect to be real. Rózsaszerű virágaik rétegesen helyezkednek el,a krém és a halványsárga, a sáapricot, pink, orange, red and burgundy. Although not often found in cottage gardens, buttercups are all the more popular as cut flowers.

Buttercups are cool seasonal flowers that grow best at temperatures of around 12°C in spring. As buttercups are not winter-hardy in our area, they are usually planted in spring and produce their flowers in summer. The most reliable way to grow it is to plant it in pots rather than in the garden. This helps with drainage, and once the plants are flowering they are easy to move, for example to a patio table or windowsill where they can be in full view.

Flower growers and other commercial growers usually grow buttercups in greenhouses. This allows them to control high and low temperatures and produce flawless flowers for their wholesalers. When buttercups are grown in a greenhouse, the bulbs are usually planted in the autumn.

Requirements:

Sun and shade :

Ranunculus should be grown in full sun. The plants do not like heat, but they need plenty of bright light every day.

Winter hardiness :

It is not winter hardy in our country, so it is often grown as an annual flower.

Soil conditions :

For best results, plant tubers in light, well-drained soil. Avoid wet soil as the tuber and root can rot easily. If growing buttercups in containers, use a high quality pH neutral peat.

Growing:

Depth and spacing :

Plant the tubers 8-10 cm apart and 4-5 cm deep, claw side down.

Planting tips :

When dormant, buttercup tubers are hard and dry. To make them grow more easily, soak them immediately before planting. Place them in a bowl of water at room temperature for 3-4 hours. Ranunculus usually flowers 90 days after planting. Expect flowering to continue for 4-6 weeks. Under good growing conditions, all ranunculus plants have large root balls. Be sure to leave plenty of room for the roots to reach the plants full potential.
