Introduction and care of the Iceland poppy (Papaver nudicaule)
The Icelandic poppy is a shorter perennial than the ornamental poppy described earlier, with a mature height of 40-50 cm. The name Icelandic poppy is somewhat misleading, leading many people to believe that this perennial plant originated in Iceland.

Iceland poppies are found in Asia, North America and northern Europe. It can be used as an ornamental plant in a variety of ways, planted in mixed flowerbeds, rock gardens or even as a cut flower to decorate your home.

Iceland poppies are extremely colourful, coming in yellow, orange, salmon, pink, cream and white, as well as in two-colour varieties. The leaves are sessile or lobed, forming a rosette of leaves. The leaves can overwinter in this form.

Iceland poppy is well suited to the Coreopsis, Salvia and Physostegia. Plant in a light place and water moderately. It grows best in nutrient-rich, well-drained, loosely compacted soil.
