The first half of the book discusses in general the physiological role of water and nutrients, the chemical and technical basis of irrigation and fertilization. It discusses water and nutrient supply methods used in large-scale commodity production and small farms. It addresses the common irrigation and nutrient application errors that are often the cause of unsuccessful farming. A separate chapter deals with the use of microbiological preparations and other plant conditioning agents in domestic vegetable production.
