Spherical, Chinese sorrets with a special greenish-white skin and a special red (flesh-coloured) inner part. Taste slightly sweet, nutty. Can be used in various raw dishes, salads or as a decoration. The tubers are 8-12 cm in size, the plant is 30-40 cm tall and 20-30 cm in diameter. They can be pre-grown from very early, from mid-January. It is easy and safe to grow and is a truly unique sight on the plate. It requires loose, nutrient-rich, sandy soil with good water permeability and a sunny spot. In dry or compacted soils, tubers may elongate; in clay soils, growing in a bushy soil improves yield and quality. Beetroot is a very good starter, mid- or second crop because it loosens the soil deeply and leaves little residue in the field. It requires most nutrients during the tuber growth phase, when the use of ammonium sulphate is recommended.
