Pleasantly pungent, aromatic green and burgundy mustard lettuce varieties. Young leaves are suitable for salads, older leaves can be prepared in woks or as spinach. Because of its cold tolerance, the leaves can be harvested in late summer even in winter. Early summer sowings produce flower stems early, but the flowers are edible and can be a decorative and tasty ingredient in salads. It needs a nutrient-rich, humus-rich, moist soil in a sunny spot. It can also be grown in pots indoors from mid-February to the end of March, although the burgundy colour will not be quite as intense then.
