Saddle vine moth (Eupoecilia ambiguella)
In Hungary, two generations develop every year. It prefers wetter, cooler climatic conditions.

Package contains: 1 roof, 1 adhesive base, 1 dispenser

Food plant:
Szőlő, esetenként ribiszke

Composition:
Caterpillars of the first generation eat parts of the bunch and destroy buds and berry shoots, causing complete death of parts of the bunch. Second generation larvae chew the inside of the berries, which are still green. The chewed berries open the way to botrytis rot.

Lifestyle:
Overwinters in stake-cracks in a cocoon-like pupal form on the capitulum. The first generation flies from early May to mid-June, depending on the season and the weather. The second generation flocks from the first half of July to mid-August. The butterflies lay their eggs mostly on the clusters. The body of the caterpillar is reddish brown, the head is dark brown, making it easily distinguishable from the larva of the variegated vine moth.

Advice on control:
If pheromone traps are catching large numbers of caterpillars, especially the first generation, the hatching of the first caterpillars - mid-May to late July - will provide the answer to deciding on control. Chemical control by treating the clusters during the peak of swarming and the period of mass emergence of caterpillars is most effective. To ensure effective control, monitoring of the variegated vine weevil pheromone trap and coordination of control should also be ensured.

Pheromone trap deployment:
Set traps in late April. Replace dispensers and adhesive sheets before the second swarming.
Check the traps twice a week. Count and record the number of moths trapped during the period. From the data, the drawing dynamics can be seen and the time of intervention can be determined. If the trap captures few moths even during the empirical swarming peaks, this indicates a low infestation. In such cases, by placing a few additional traps in small gardens, the moths can be captured and the population can be controlled without spraying, thus sparing our environment.
