Use: The amide nitrogen of urea has a relatively longer duration of action. It is converted to nitrate by biochemical processes and the intermediate products do not leach out of the soil, making it an excellent base fertiliser. It can also be used as a foliar fertiliser in a 0,5-1 % solution, as its aqueous solution does not scorch vegetation. As a feed urea, it can cover 25-30 % of the protein requirements of the animals concerned. In industry, it can also be used to produce aminoplasts and wood adhesives with formaldehyde.
