It is converted to nitrate by biochemical processes and the intermediate products do not leach out of the soil, making it an excellent base fertiliser. It can also be used as a foliar fertiliser in a 0,5-1 % solution, as its aqueous solution does not scorch vegetation. As a feed urea, it can cover 25-30 % of the protein requirements of the animals concerned. In industry, it can also be used to produce aminoplasts and wood adhesives with formaldehyde.
