The Habanero variety group of capsicum chinense is made up of very hot peppers from Cuba with a variety of colours (red, orange, white, yellow and dark brown....) and irregular fruit shape. The plants are umbrella-like branched, growing to a height of 80-100cm in the open field and 120-150cm under a canopy. The berries are 5-6 cm long and have a wrinkled, irregular shape. The Chocolate variety has pendulous berries that turn from light green to chocolate brown.
Because of its bitter taste, do not eat it on its own, use it as a flavouring in sauces and seasonings.
