Prolectus is a new formulation containing a unique active ingredient against grey mould and monilia. It is a fungicide spray for use on grapes, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, as well as on sprouted tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers and courgettes.

Prolectus contains the active substance phenpirazamine at 500 g/kg. The mechanism of action of this deep acting fungicide active substance is still under investigation (hence its classification as a substance with an undetermined mechanism of action in the FRAC list), but it appears certain that the active substance inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis. Phenpirazamine not only inhibits spore germination but also prevents mycelium development. The active substance also inhibits the development of conidia and the formation of conidia.

The active ingredient, phenpirazamine, is rapidly transported across the cuticle and absorbed through the skin tissue. Its rapid penetration into plant tissues allows it to pass very rapidly from the leaf surface to the other side of the leaf plate. It can thus block the development of the pathogenic fungus both inside the plant tissue and on the untreated leaf side (translaminar effect).

Prolectus becomes rain resistant quickly after spraying and its effect is long lasting. In the trials, 10 mm of rainfall in the 30 minutes after treatment (when the spray was not fully dry) did not cause any loss of efficacy.

Thanks to its granular (WG) form, Prolectus is also easy, convenient and safe to handle, dispense and mix. The occupational health waiting time is 0 days. No risk to bees and other beneficial organisms. It degrades rapidly in soil, so poses a low risk of contamination of both surface and groundwater.

The dose of Prolectus for grey mould and moniliaceous blight is 1,2 kg/ha (0,08-0,12 % in shoots) and for moniliaceous blossom and shoot dieback is 0,8 kg/ha.
