Distribution: native to southern China.

A robust-looking palm species that grows up to 10 metres tall in its native country. Its fan-shaped, shiny leaves are green, divided halfway up the leaf blade and can reach up to 2 m in diameter. Livistonia species can survive mild frosts without damage.
Livistona palms are not overgrown when kept indoors and develop a solitary trunk, making them particularly suitable for pots and containers. The palm petioles are spiny!
It develops a strong root system, so the warmer the place, the better it will grow. In summer it can be kept outdoors, but not in direct sunlight!
To grow well, it needs a nutritious but slightly sandy soil. As they develop strong roots when young, keep them in large pots. As long roots can develop naturally, they can tolerate drought for short periods. Of course, when keeping them in pots, care should be taken to ensure that the roots get enough water, but avoid stagnant water!
Spider mites can damage them.
When treating them, follow the general procedures for palms.
