Efficacy and effectiveness
The active ingredient in Pyranica 20 WP, tebufenpyrad, inhibits mitochondrial respiration and electron transport, which prevents cross-resistance in mites that have become resistant to commonly used acaricides. Its mode of action makes it completely unique among miticides, because it has a fast disinfectant action and a long duration of action (50-60 days), as well as an absorption effect (deep action).
This trans-laminar property means that Pyranica 20 WP, when sprayed on the leaf colour, also kills mites hiding in the leaf phloem.
The product is effective against all mite developmental forms (egg-larvae-crystals- nymphs-developed form), with only minor differences in efficacy against different developmental forms.
It has an extremely wide spectrum of activity, with excellent activity against more than 436 species of fruit, vegetables and ornamentals: various spider mites (red fruit, two-spotted, brown, hawthorn, etc.), and a few other species.), leafhoppers (e.g. grape, apple leafhoppers), codling moths (e.g. grape codling moth, pear leafhoppers), aphids (e.g. strawberry aphid), leafhoppers, leafminers (e.g. pear leafminer), mealy bugs, thrips, true aphids.
Beneficial predatory organisms are spared, non-phytotoxic to cultivated plants, non-harmful to bees.
Suggestions for use
In apple orchards, the product should be applied on a forecast basis in spring, when the red fruit tree aphid has 60-70% larval infestation, or in vegetation when the number of mites per leaf reaches the average of 2-3 motile forms. The preparation is long-lasting. Controls against aphids should be initiated by swarming observations against spring generations or when the returning breeding pair emerges at the end of summer. The efficacy of the product can be enhanced by co-application with Superspray. Sulphur-S-Boron can be used to prevent boron deficiency. Amalgerol Plant and Soil Conditioner is recommended to promote crop setting and to improve quality and storage. The dosage of the preparation is 0,025 % above 1000 l juice volume.
In pears, control should be targeted in early spring against overwintering adults and young L1-L2 larvae. The timing of treatments should be based on a forecast and not on a programme. The efficacy of the product can be enhanced by the addition of Superspray.
In grapes, control of leafminers, weevils and caterpillars is recommended at the emergence of the overwintering generation in early spring, based on a forecast, immediately after bud break and at the emergence of the first lobed leaves. The summer generation should be controlled in July to prevent overwintering. This treatment will also weed the following year's population. For summer control, a higher dose is justified. The effect of the product can be enhanced by the addition of Superspray. For the prevention of boron deficiency, the use of Sulphur-S Boron Foliar Fertiliser is recommended.
Controls against common weevil in field and sweet pepper should be started at the time of mass larvae infestation and repeated 1-2 times as necessary.
In seed-producing maize, damaging spider mites should be controlled by spraying at the beginning of their emergence on the plants. The number of pests should be estimated in advance by plant inspection. Control should be started when 2-3 moving individuals per leaf are found. If necessary, repeat spraying once at the latest until wax maturing (BBCH 85).
The efficacy of the product can be enhanced by co-application with Superspray.
