Common name: Dietes bicolor - Dioecious kaffir lime

A well-known species native to the province of South Africa. It has long, curved, dark green, strap-like leaves crowned with flat, brown, lemon-yellow flowers with a mottled brown blotch.
An evergreen clump-forming, summer-flowering, rhizomatous plant. Flat, iris-like, pale to light yellow flowers develop in succession on branched stems; outer bracts have brown spots on the base. Planting distance: 30-60cm, height: 1m.
They are very hardy plants, tolerating both hot sun and shade, and are not demanding on the medium.

Evergreen, lady-petal-like, herbaceous perennials, planted for their decorative spring and summer flowers.
Individual flowers open in a few days, but bloom profusely throughout the summer. They are partly winter-hardy.
