Short description of the product
The different types of GranucollÒ are granulated activated carbons of plant origin. They are all manufactured from powdered
from pulverised activated carbon and, depending on the type, the internal surface area and specific gravity of the different granules vary
adsorption capacity. Thanks to a special production technology, they are perfectly separated from each other
the individual pellets. Approved under current legislation and regulations, purity and quality
tested by a specialised laboratory.
Purpose of treatment
Each type of GranucolÒ is recommended for the following treatment purposes:
- GranucolÒGE: adsorption of undesirable flavour and odour substances,
- GranucolÒ FA: for the removal of red tending colour changes caused by browning,
- GranucolÒ BI: to reduce tannins and polyphenols and to remove excessively deep colours.
The product and its effects
GranucolÒ can be easily applied to selectively remove undesirable colour, flavour or odour
can be removed selectively. The special manufacturing process uses the finest particles of activated carbon to achieve the total adsorption
adsorption effect is retained; thus, after treatment, the separation is rapid and the bouquet of the beverage is
remains intact. Each type of GranucolÒ selectively acts on undesirable flavours and fragrances, and
reduce excessive colouring and tanning agents. GranucolÒ is not only fairly fast, but
settles well. In the case of combined treatment, GranucolÒ should be administered first, so that the subsequent gelatine inconoacetic acid sol
treatment afterwards improves both settling and filterability.
Application
GranucolÒ is added directly to wine, fruit juices or other beverages without pre-dissolution. A
immediately after addition, the distribution of the individual pellets begins. The beverage to be treated is then left for several minutes
intensively stirred for several minutes. Later on, it is advisable to stir again 2-3 times at short intervals. The adsorption takes place after only a few
after a few hours, but certainly after a day. The wine should then be decanted from the activated carbon sediment as soon as possible.
In the case of filtration by evaporation, GranucolÒ can be added continuously, together with the filtration aid. The optimum
preliminary tests are recommended to determine the optimum dosing rates. As a guide, the following values should be used
dosing rates are recommended:
1. Treatment of wines, must concentrates and juices:
(a) For slight mould, rot, cask, cork, wild yeast or other foreign taste or odour: 10-40 g
GranucolÒ GE/100 l. Acid odour (hydrogen sulphide odour), slight tired oil or petroleum odour
20-60 g GranucolÒ GE/100 l. Higher dosages of GranucolÒ GE will affect the properties of the drink
may have a major impact on the properties of the beverage and therefore a blending of the treated beverage may be necessary. The frost
or unusual flavours caused by frost, vintage or vintage origin are best removed at the must stage (the
50-100 g GranucolÒ GE/100 l depending on the strength of the foreign flavour).
the following rule can be followed: 1 g/100 l of GranucolÒ GE according to the % of rotten grapes.
Seporit with PORE-TEC and Mostgelatine to obtain a clean wine.
b) In the case of colour correction, usually 10-30 g GranucolÒ FA/100 l, depending on the colour strength
is sufficient.
c) In case of high tannin content, deep colour and clarification difficulties, 10-50 g
GranucolÒ BI/100 l will give good rounding and clarification. It is particularly gentle,
but particularly effective tanning agent reduction is achieved when GranucolÒ BI is combined with GerbinolÒ
Super. This is done by applying GranucolÒ BI after a treatment of approximately
1-2 hours later, GerbinolÒ Super is administered. According to EU Regulation 2165/2005, activated carbon is white
and red musts/juices and wines. In addition, white wine and white wine already treated with activated charcoal
wine made from must/ mustard already treated with activated carbon is allowed up to a maximum of 100 g/100 l (kg)
per 100 litres per 100 g of juice.
2. Treatment of spirits and wine distillates:
(a) In the presence of interfering flavour and odour components, it is recommended, depending on the strength of the interfering effects, to use
GranucolÒ GE, depending on the strength of the interfering effects. For the removal of cosmose taste or for taste rounding in most cases
a minimum dosage of 50-100 g GranucolÒ GE/100 l is sufficient in most cases.
(b) For decolourisation, usually 50-100 g GranucolÒ FA/100 l is required. Treatments should be adapted to the consumption
concentration (max. 55 % vol.).
Storage
The product must be protected from extraneous odours and moisture. Opened packages must be carefully closed immediately
back carefully.
