Nemastar Biological insecticide - beneficial nematode

Nemastar is a nematode preparation that finds the target pest in the soil within a short time and kills it together with the bacteria living in symbiosis with the nematode. They multiply inside the pest's body and seek out new hosts under suitable conditions. In this way they rapidly kill the target pests present. However, all this is only achieved if the soil is kept moist at the right time and soil temperature, and if the application is made in the evening hours, protected from the sun's UV rays.

What are the active ingredients of Nemastar:

Active ingredient: Steinernema carpocapsae nematode

What it can be used to control:

Can be used: in all field and sprouted vegetable crops, ornamentals, on lawns and pastures against mole crickets (Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa) and sow-owl midge (Agrotis segetum), and on lawns and pastures against horse midge (Tipula paludosa).

When can I start treating the land with Nemastar ?

Introductions should be started when the first pests appear and repeated depending on the extent of infestation. The medium to be treated should always be moist but not waterlogged!

Treatment against adult mole crickets should be carried out before the fallowing period, depending on soil temperature (minimum 12°C - maximum 30°C), at the latest by the end of May, but can be used until the end of September if necessary.

How to use Nematar biological insecticide ?

Dose:

50 mil/100 m2 ; Spray : min. 10 l/100 m2

Volume of spray:

minimum 10 l water added per 100 m2

Preparation and application of the spray:

To prepare the spray juice, dissolve the entire contents of the packet in water at 15-20 °C and sprinkle with 1 l/m2. When using a spraying machine, remove the filters and use a 1 mm nozzle at a maximum pressure of 5 bar. Do not store the sprayed product for more than 4 hours! Water and keep the soil moist for 3 weeks after treatment!

Nemastar should be applied against the seed borer caterpillar in May-June and September-October by spraying or irrigation in the evening or cloudy period, as for the control of the mole cricket. On grassland, the product should be prepared and applied to the soil in the same way as for the control of mole crickets in the months September to October for the control of horse midge larvae.

Can Nemastar be used with other chemical insecticides ?

Insect pathogenic nematodes may be sensitive to some of the insecticides used in the soil, so if these are used, wait at least 2 weeks before applying nematodes.
