In our past experience, horse breeders and breeding professionals have been very selective in the feed they choose for their animals.
It is well known that a cold-blooded horse consumes 40-50 kg of mown green fodder per day, a warm-blooded horse 30-50 kg and a pony 10-15 kg. Horses prefer hard hay, of which they need 6-10 kg per day. Therefore, in the composition of the above hay-feeding grassland, we recommend sowing English periwinkle, meadow periwinkle, meadow chaff, meadow comfrey, knotweed and testicles. If pastures for horses are to be established, they should be provided on hard ground (in order to allow hoofs to develop in the case of hoof drop and foals). We can of course also meet specific requirements when composing mowing mixtures. When planting pasture, it should be taken into account that each animal requires 1,5 to 2,5 ha of land.
For quality horse breeding, it is necessary to take these factors into account and to install good quality mowing and grazing.
