Requirements of Kecskemét bitter-rot cucumber:

Soil requirements:

Soil should be rich in organic matter, well drained and have a neutral pH. A soil rich in compost is best suited to its needs. Mature manure can be used to enrich the soil with organic matter. However, organic manure should be applied in the autumn! You will be grateful if your soil is mulched, as this will prevent the spread of diseases whose pathogens are transmitted through leaves in contact with bare soil. We also reduce the risk of weeds.

Water requirements:

Cucumbers are water and humidity intensive. It needs a lot of water during the ripening process. Irrigate in small doses several times a day or use drip irrigation.

Beneficial effects of Kecskemét bitterness-free cucumbers:

Internal values:

Cucumbers are juicy and rich in minerals (mainly potassium, phosphorus, sodium, magnesium and iron) and vitamins (all vitamins of the B group, vitamin C, some pre-vitamin A and vitamin E). Their fibres are easier to digest if they are lightly salted before consumption or simply chewed thoroughly.

Medicinal properties:

Eaten on an empty stomach, cucumber juice has a purifying and appetite stimulating effect. In dermatology, it is used as a softener (in the form of a mask or a wash) to help heal redness, itching and peeling. Its nutritional value is enhanced by its beneficial effects on stomach function, and its high potassium content has a diuretic effect.
