HUF 366 * (nettó: HUF 288) | |
General characterisation of the Beja pumpkin:
Beja pumpkin is high in carotenes and is one of the largest "orange" type, ham-shaped pumpkin varieties.
It is a high yielding, high quality, high nutritional value, and has a high yield of "beja":
Flesh is dark orange with a sweet flavor. Terracotta-coloured, slightly ribbed, orange-type pumpkin. Shaped like a violin, grows to 2-3 kg, has firm, orange flesh. The pleasant nutty flavour is complemented by a pleasant sweetness.
Root system:
When planted, the taproot is deep, reaching a depth of 80-110 cm, and the shoot system is most similar to that of a cucumber.
Seed:
Interestingly, the seeds in the cavity retain their germination capacity for 7-8 years and germinate better in the second year than immediately after seed set.
Application:
Almost exclusively used in the form of pumpkins, orange pumpkins have, almost completely, replaced the pumpkin varieties for pumpkin.
Storage:
The fruit has 5-6% sugar content, making it sweeter than giant pumpkins, but its shelf life is not even close. They have a thinner skin, which makes them less shelf-stable, but they are also affected by certain bacterial diseases during storage, so they can be stored in small-scale storage until December at the latest.
Requirements:
Temperature and soil requirements:
Requires high temperatures and good, nutritious soil.
Nutrient requirements:
Of the nutrients, potassium is the main determinant of sugar content, so it is advisable to apply a fertiliser with increased potassium content to the bottom of the nest when sowing in nests.
