Features of Black beauty egg fruit:
A medium late, prolific outdoor and propagating variety. The plant forms a dense, closed, low bush. The fruit weighs 250-300g on average and has a rounded shape. Skin medium purple, flesh pale cream. Aubergines are heat-, light-, nutrient- and water-demanding. It requires a humus-rich, sunny, sheltered location.
Growing techniques:
Sowing:
February to March in a greenhouse or heated foil.
Sowing depth:
1 cm. After emergence, pickling.
Planting in the open ground:
From mid-May, after danger of frost has passed.
Seed requirements:
10-12 g to produce 1000 seedlings.
Spacing:
80x40 cm.
Harvesting:
Can be harvested from July to September. The fleshy berry can be picked when it has reached its final size but the seed has not yet started to ripen. A clear sign of this is that the seed is still white.
