The instrument's excellent properties make it suitable for horticultural applications in particular, but also for many other areas
(laboratory techniques, environmental protection, industrial process control).
Parts of the measuring suitcase:
- carrying case with foam lining adapted to the shape of the instrument.
- PNT 3000 digital AM meter
- AM measuring electrode (250mm)
- 9 V permanent battery inserted in the battery compartment of the instrument
Detailed description of the instrument:
Why is it necessary to measure nutrient activity in soil?
Why do we need to know why it is necessary to measure the nutrient activity of the soil? This is because it is the activity of the salt that determines the salt concentration.
This also applies to the uptake of nutrients by plants. It is therefore important to measure the activity of the dissolved salts in the soil, not the
their quantity.
The PET 2000 activity meter measures the salt ions in solution in the soil. In chemical terms, activity refers to the efficiency of the ions.
Ions in solution can be divided into positively charged cations and negatively charged anions. In pure water, electrically charged ions
are completely dissolved immediately. In soil, the ions lose much of the mobility they still have in water,
therefore their efficiency is reduced.
Potted plants, annuals, container plants, compost and soil mixes in a few seconds
The top layer of soil in roses, carnations and container plants is usually well fertilized, but the deeper layers are usually well
layer often lacks adequate fertilizer. The root ball of potted plants absorbs the liquid fertilizer in a few hours.
fertiliser. Salt sensitive plants (e.g. Anthurium, Primula Acaulis) are often over-fertilised. In the open field, stagnant water
often leads to total loss. In winter, high salt concentrations can cause serious damage to plants.
The AM PET 2000 detects salt ions in solution directly in the soil. Since the nutrients of plants are in the form of salt ions
the PET 2000 measures the salt concentration directly in the soil. The activity of these salt ions depends essentially on the soil
moisture of the soil and its binding. The activity value therefore immediately indicates whether fertilisation is necessary.
