Polder Ltd., which produces, processes and sells grass seeds, is one of the leading players in this specialised field of the seed industry in Hungary. Based on many years of experience, they have developed a range of grass seed mixtures that are constantly available. They can satisfy most of the user's needs. The majority of the ingredients of the mixtures are home-grown varieties (home-bred varieties for mixtures recommended for lawns).
Grass seed mixtures consisting of several species (including cultivars) are generally used for the establishment of lawns and lawns. Planting with one species (so-called pure seeding) is rarely used. The planting of a few high-yielding grasses (e.g. Hungarian rye-grass, knotweed, reed canarygrass) in a single species is usually considered for fodder production in poorly situated areas.
In any case, planting with grass seed mixtures gives better results. Bear in mind that the species in the mixture have different characteristics and habitat requirements, so that different growing sites may have different components that will ensure a closed stand.
Species with different developmental characteristics complement each other well in the development of their stands (e.g. species with a variegated growth habit and species with a shrubby growth habit). In the case of ornamental grassland, a higher aesthetic value can also be achieved by mixing species with appropriate leaf width, leaf colour and other different characteristics.
