Chitin synthesis inhibitor insecticide Active ingredient: 25,0 % diflubenzuron. Due to changes to the authorisation in 2017, the product can only be used on ornamental trees and shrubs. The marketing category of the product has been changed to category II, so a valid licence is required to purchase it!

Dimilin® 25WP has a different mode of action to conventional insecticides. The active substance diflubenzuron inhibits the synthesis of chitin by the insect cuticle. It interferes with their molting process, so the protein cannot be incorporated into the new skin tissue of the developing larva. The resulting membranous outer skin tissue is unable to withstand the internal pressure during molting and the pest dies in the molt. It follows that dimyline is primarily a larvalicide, which means that the new developmental form of the larvae becomes non-viable. The active substance diflubenzuron is a basic formulation for integrated pest management due to its very favourable toxicological properties. The insecticide is less toxic than table salt. Use: on apple crops against sloth caterpillars, fruit borers and drift moths, on stone fruit crops against fruit moths and sloth caterpillars. Controls should be based on the forecast, should be started when pest drawings are detected and repeated as necessary. Control of pear fruit fly should be carried out at oviposition and at L1 - L3 larval stages using oil spray or Silwet® L-77. Without oil additive or Silwet L-77, apply Dimilin at twice the rate. To protect the natural enemies of pearl millet, sloth moth and chinch bugs, do not combine Dimilin with any other insecticide except in cases of heavy swarming. In forest nurseries, ornamental trees and shrubs, control young caterpillars during mass larval infestations. Chestnut leafminer control is most effectively achieved by applying Dimilin in combination with a wetting agent and/or Silwet L-77 during peak emergence of the overwintering generation of moths. Leaves infested with pupae should preferably be destroyed in autumn.
