After the spring growing season, the lawn should be prepared to withstand the stress of the hot summer weather. Nitrogen should be reduced during the summer and a potassium-rich nutrient should be applied to strengthen the plant to withstand summer heat and drought. The lawn is also stressed in autumn and winter.
