About Sanibel in general:

• SANIBEL is a very early maturing (80 - 90 days), B-cooking type (for cooking), large tuber, red-skinned potato variety.
• SANIBEL also has a secondary skin, so it remains red even as a shredded-skin product.
• Seed tubers should be removed from the Big Bag immediately after delivery to preserve their quality.
• Soil preparation: aim for loose soil at a depth of 20 cm below normal soil level

Nutrient replenishment:

• N 140-160 kg/ha (depending on soil type, area, planned size), with irrigation, two applications are recommended(2/3:1/3).
• P2O5 80 kg/ha
• K2O270 - 300 kg/ha (in K2SO4form ) for drought tolerance, applied in two instalments (½ : ½) with irrigation
• MgO 60 kg/ha
• Use of banded seed tubers always, but banding of the soil is also generally recommended (Azoxistrobin provides good protection against many fungi.)

Specific recommendations:

• Susceptible to metribuzin pre- and postemergence, application should be avoided
• Pregermination is rewarded.
• Plant only in soil warmer than 8°C.
• Do not allow secondary growth too high,
• SANIBEL is susceptible to foliar phytophthora, so early and regular protection is recommended
• Protection against aphids is recommended 1-2 times
• Gentle harvesting is recommended
