Where can parsley be grown?

Root parsley can be grown under younger fruit trees or between rows of vines and is not particularly light-hungry, while chives are suitable for a bright spot, the latter also being suitable for root parsley. It is a cold-tolerant plant that grows best in deep, nutrient-rich, fresh soil. If the soil is not cultivated deeply enough, the parsley roots will branch or curl.

Seed requirements:

5 g/10 m2. Very slow to germinate, use lettuce or radish seed as a row marker when sowing. Keep the seed constantly moist until the seedlings are firm.

Time to sow parsley:

Root parsley can be sown in the open ground from February to March. For sowing, you can buy ordinary seeds and drained seeds. Parsley seeds are very small and difficult to germinate, taking up to 4-5 weeks to germinate if the soil is not moist enough.

Sowing seeds in a threshed state makes it easier to maintain the right spacing and means that you need to thin the sprouted plants much less, if at all. It's a good idea to soak the ordinary seed the day before sowing, or mix it in damp sand and keep it in a warm place until sowing, to facilitate germination. Germination takes about 21 to 28 days, thinning after emergence. Patience and constant humidity levels are key.

Yes, it is considered a water-demanding plant, but it also absorbs water from deeper down and uses it well. It needs most water for germination and initial growth, and if the spring is dry, it needs watering in the spring.
