Description:
Gladiolus Viva la Vida is a mixture that is indispensable in the summer garden. These true summer flowers can bloom until autumn. These profusely blooming, large-flowered sword flowers grow to about 120-140 cm and are also wonderful cut flowers. So be sure to plant a row of swordflowers in your cut flower garden.
Planting:
Swordflower bulbs can be planted in spring at a depth of about 7-10 cm. First loosen the soil well and spread a layer of sand at the bottom of the planting hole. This allows rainwater to drain away under the tubers. Space the tubers 10-12 cm apart. When planting, add good quality potting soil. Mix the heavy (clay) soil with sand before planting.
Carecare:
This large-flowered swordflower likes to grow in a warm, sunny spot. It can make special combinations in the borders of tall perennials and dahlias. Plant the swordflower in a different place each year if possible. Use these sword flowers as cut flowers? Pick the stems when the lower flower opens, preferably early in the morning. Immediately place the stems of cut flowers in a vase of nutrient solution with lukewarm water.
