Its trunk is covered with a long, dark brown, thick fibre. The leaves are dark green, 50 - 70 cm in diameter, lobed almost to the petiole, bluish on the back. Palms can be planted outdoors. Evergreen, summer-flowering palms grown for their habit, leaves and flowers.
They require full sun and are best in places where they are protected from strong winds, especially when young. Their fragrant creamy yellow flowers form large inflorescences in summer. Trachycarpus are not particularly demanding on the soil, but plant them in fertile, well-drained soil if possible. The leaf petiole edges are slightly serrated. Flowers are unisexual or male, but may be dioecious.
Nutrient supply is sufficient twice a month, once in winter.
It likes full sun and plenty of water, but do not stand the pot in water. Plant in nutrient-rich soil suitable for palms. It is sufficient to replant the palm every 2 to 4 years. For transplanting, use a soil mixture of 2/3 compost, 1/3 peat or potting soil mixed with sand. You can also mix a fertilizer with a long-lasting effect into the soil.
Minimum temperature : - 11°C.
The germination period of the seeds can last up to 8 - 12 weeks.
