Details
The mixture consists of drought-tolerant grasses. In the established grassland, the planned cover of grazing-tolerant undergrowth is 40%. The proportion of fast-germinating eelgrass, which is competitive due to its good weed suppression, is 20%. It is a trampling species and is therefore well adapted to the heavy wear and tear caused by horses, which justifies its proportion in the mixture. Red fescue is a taracke grass, allowing longevity. In horse pastures, hard-stemmed grasses are also needed, but species with strong roots and trampling tolerance are required. Green strapgrass and reed canarygrass provide a wide moisture tolerance, withstanding both spring inland water and summer drought. Horses tend to leave buttercup patches ungrazed, so buttercups are not needed in the pasture mix. The high fibre ratio gives a high yield and allows the first growth surplus to be conserved as meadow hay.
