Western tuja (Thuja occidentalis)
Contents of the sachet 0,5 g
Evergreen growing to a height of 10-12 m in Hungary. The crown is slender, conical, the tip always slightly rounded. The trunk is straight, longitudinally fissured and the bark is orange-red, coming off in narrow strips; when older it is greyish brown. Its sparsely growing, densely branched branches are horizontal and its shoots are drooping. The leafy twigs are slightly lighter green than the colour.
The broad ovate scales, which stand crosswise opposite each other, are pale ash-green, the bracts yellowish-green, with a glandular centre, and have an aromatic fragrance when crushed. Foliage bronze to brownish in winter, turning green again in spring.
The flowers are small, elongated, dark red, and grow at the end of the branches. The fruiting cones are yellowish at first, brownish when ripe, loose like buds, about 10-20 mm long; 8-10 cone scales are dry.
