Hamisciprus (chamaecyparis lawsoniana)
Contents of the sachet 1 g
Narrow tree growing to about 50 m tall; crown conical. Reddish brown bark cracking in longitudinal fibres. Spikelets flattened. Its flat shoots are densely branched horizontally. Leading shoots are arching. The small, pointed scale-leaves are transversely transverse, with the tips slightly protruding from the branch; they are dark green in colour, with an X-shaped white pattern at the junction of the leaves on the backbone. Foliage fragrant.
Inflorescences are pollen. Small, featureless, hardly noticeable flowers open in small clusters at the shoot ends. The stamens are carmine-red, the fruiting ones bluish. The cylindrical, almost spherical pollen tubes are bluish green at first, turning brown when mature. The spherical cones are about 0,8 cm long and usually consist of three pairs of shield-shaped scales.
Most varieties tolerate frost well but drought poorly. In cold winters, their crowns are easily scorched on their sunny sides or by drying winds. When young, it needs a shady, sheltered spot. It prefers neutral to slightly acidic soil and dislikes chalky soil.
In its native habitat it grows on hillsides and in gorges and can live to be 300-350 years old. The branches of older trees often take root on the ground.
It flowers in early spring. Toboza ripens in a year.
