Horsehair palm (Chamaerops humilis)

Contents of the package 5 seeds

The horsehair palm or dwarf horsehair palm, often simply dwarf palm (Chamaerops humilis) is a species of palm family (Arecaceae), the only species of the genus Chamaerops.

It is native to the western Mediterranean basin. Along with the Cretan date palm (Phoenix theophrasti), it is the second most naturally occurring palm species in Europe and the most northerly naturally occurring palm species.

It is a slow-growing and stocky umbrella palm. It tolerates the high summer heat as well as the harsh winters (down to -15°C). It is not very water-hungry and tolerates drought well.
