Uniform green, 40 cm long leaf plates on erect, long stems. Flowers are a striking yellow. They are a truly striking sight.

Minimum temperature: 5-10 °C.
Germination is easy, taking 1-2 weeks.

Due to their tropical origin, Calathea species prefer a warm, humid and frost-free climate. They are not very light-hungry and make excellent houseplants. Plant them in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and keep them sheltered from draughts.
