ENSETE GLAUCUM - Havasi banana - 5 seeds/pack
Musaceae
In China at altitudes of 800 - 2700 m, but can also be found in Nepal, India, Thailand, Tibet, Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.
This banana is a conspicuous but relatively less well known species, known as Musa nepelensis and Ensete gigantenum. Typically called "Snow banana", this plant can grow at altitudes of 800 - 2700 m and has a thick, waxy, bluish-coloured trunk. The bluish leaves on its solitary trunk are gigantic, reaching up to 3 m in length. The inflorescence is extraordinary, drooping to about 60 cm long. The plant grows extremely fast.
A nutrient-rich medium, good water supply and regular nutrient replenishment are essential for growth. It is treated using the general procedures for bananas.
Minimum temperature :
In its natural habitat it tolerates cold well. In our country, it needs cover in winter, so the stems and leaves freeze, but the underground part of the plant will grow again in spring.
Its germination is unpredictable, needing about 1-3 months near 26°C.
