CYRTOSTACHYS RENDA - Spanish Wax Palm - 5 seeds/pack
Palmae
The natural habitat of the Cyrtostachys order is Malaysia, Sumatra.
The palms are classified as a shrubby palm species due to their ability to form impenetrable dense thickets. These species develop underground root systems, rhizomes. The leaves are wing-like compound with a unique bright red petiolate.
The reddish-purple hue is already apparent on young specimens and becomes more vivid as the palm grows. Because of the tropical climate of its habitat, this palm variety likes warmth, humidity and sunshine.
The order Cyrtostachys, a palm typically native to tropical climates, is best suited to a humid, warm conservatory or greenhouse. Feeding twice a month is sufficient, once in winter is necessary.
It likes full sun and an ample water supply, but do not stand the pots in water. Plant in nutrient-rich soil suitable for palms.
Minimum temperature : 7 - 10 °C
Sensitive to frost. Seed germination can take up to 8 - 12 weeks.
