ORDYLINE FRUTICOSA - Broad-leaved bush lily - 5 seeds/pack
Agavaceae
Commonly known as Cordyline fruticosa, Cordyline terminalis, Bunches of Lily, Broad-leaved Bunches of Lily.
Distribution: native to the Pacific region
This is a very popular Cordyline variety. Slightly slower growing than the green variety, it is an evergreen, sparsely branched tree with thick, intense burgundy leaves, aluminous, 1-1.5 m long and vigorous. The small fragrant flowers open in a huge cluster in summer. This type of Cordyline prefers tropical, humid climates, so care should be taken when keeping it if its beautiful appearance is to be enjoyed for years to come.
As this variety is subtropical in origin, they should be kept above 12°C in winter.
Cordyline is not very demanding when it comes to watering, but its soil ball should not be allowed to dry out completely. It is preferable that the irrigation water is lukewarm rather than cold, otherwise leaf drop or leaf browning may occur.
For good growth it needs nutritious soil with good water management. Potted specimens should be watered moderately, and even less in winter. It needs plenty of light but will tolerate partial shade.
They can be damaged by weevils.
Minimum temperature : 12 °C.
Sensitive to frost. Seed germination time is about 2-3 weeks.
