General characterization of Goldena zucchini:

Goldena zucchini is a medium-aged, very productive variety with golden-yellow, elongated fruits that are very delicate. It can be eaten raw or as a salad. It is a compact-growing, prolific variety. The cylindrical fruit is bright yellow in colour and has a nice shine. The skin is dark orange when fully ripe. The fruit is best when 10-20 cm in size.

Growing and requirements of Goldena courgettes:

Sowing:

Sow from April to August, also suitable as a second crop. Sow primarily in nests!

Germination:

Heat tolerant, optimum seed germination temperature is 23-27°C. For flowering, temperatures above 25°C are required. Cool weather is not favourable for the seedling, flowering is delayed and even setting of the fruit may be delayed.

Needs light:

Courgettes are light-hungry, but will tolerate weak shade or scattered light, in which case they should be protected against powdery mildew.

Water requirements:

Expect tender crops only when its high water requirements are met. Despite its deep-rooting and relatively extensive soil coverage, it can only be grown safely by irrigation due to the low summer rainfall. It can be harvested continuously in wet conditions. In prolonged drought conditions, courgettes will not flower, but will not die, but will resprout and flower again after rain or irrigation.

Nutrient requirements:

Zucchini needs a lot of nutrients because of its rapid growth and continuous setting of fruits. Its high nutrient requirements are best met with organic fertilizers that provide a continuous supply of nutrients. If you cannot fertilize the whole area, be sure to apply it in nests, i.e. put a shovelful of manure in the marked and dug nests 2 weeks before planting, then bury it back to allow the soil to settle.

Harvesting:

When the zucchini reach 10-20 cm in size, they are at their best.
