Velvet Blossom - also known as Büdöske

The stinkwort, also known as the velvet blossom, blooms all summer until the first night frosts. It is a very hardy plant, can be planted in pots or flowerbeds, and even thrives on balconies with light winds. It will thrive in partial shade, but it grows best in the garden in a sunny spot in general garden soil that is not too chalky. It is a wild plant in its native Mexico. It is an annual with feathery divided leaves. The numerous orange, yellow or reddish-brown, clustered inflorescences are borne singly or in small clusters on the stem.

Benefits of Velvet Blossom:

The velvet blossom (also known as stink bug) is particularly useful in the organic garden. The roots keep nematodes away. This is true of all velvet blossoms, but this variety has a stronger than usual effect on nematodes that damage the roots of plants. Its flowers attract one of the great enemies of aphids, the blade fly.
