Cultivation of the Annual Carnation
Sowing:
Sow in hotbeds or pots from January to February. For further growing, pin when 3-4 weeks old. Plant from the end of April.
Flowering:
Shrubs after planting, then produces full, fragrant flowers on 35-40 cm stems. It produces flowers from white to dark burgundy, and even petals. Leaves are greyish green, waxy. Flowering from July to autumn frosts.
Demands:
Prefers nutrient-rich, normal garden soil. Requires constant harvesting. Stems can be prevented by netting.
Spacing:
25x25 cm.
Use:
Grown mainly as cut flowers.
